MAN - Manchester Information

Manchester’s air activity has an illustrious past dating back to 1910, when Louis Paulhan undertook the first flight from London to Manchester winning the sum of £10,000 from the Daily Mail.

The airport however didn’t appear until 1928 and is now one of Britain’s, and the world’s principal airports handling over 19 million passengers to approximately 33 countries with 89 airlines.

Now with 3 terminals and 2 runways Manchester Airport is still growing and has an exciting and promising future.

Manchester Airport is owned by the Council of the City of Manchester, together with nine other Greater Manchester District Councils.

How to get to Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport is located 10 miles southwest of Manchester city centre and lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway. The Airport roads display colour-coded cubes which indicate the best route to each terminal and its car parks. You will need to get into the appropriate lane as marked by the coded cube.

Manchester Airport is planning to erect large banner signs on the approach roads to each individual terminal. These will indicate which airlines fly from that particular terminal. The airlines will appear in alphabetical order, along with the airline logo and code.

BP Petrol Stations & Supermarkets are situated near Terminals 1 and 2. Open 24 hours.
